One of the things is fear\, and yet there is a way out of fear through understanding God’s nature and our relationship to God.” Kneeland explains\, “the beauty of understanding God’s loving relationship is that it’s not compartmentalized. It benefits every aspect of our life\, and it has wonderful side effects.” \nSharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Kneeland will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nKneeland will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties. \nAnn Kneeland has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years\, helping people on a daily basis through this scientific approach to prayer. Kneeland\, CS:Member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship\nGrowing up in a family that loved and practiced Christian Science\, Ann saw how God heals sickness and relationship problems\, meets financial needs\, solves business issues\, and answers life’s questions. In the Christian Science Sunday School\, Ann learned to rely upon the healing ideas in the Bible\, as explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by Mary Baker Eddy. During her school years\, the ideas in these books healed Ann of headaches\, sickness\, a wart\, a rash\, sports injuries\, and academic anxieties. \nAfter college\, Ann took Primary Class instruction to deepen her understanding of God and to learn to heal more systematically. This understanding guided her in a business career and brought healing solutions to difficult issues. When she and her husband began a family\, Christian Science was a daily help in navigating parenthood\, and in caring for their two children’s health and growth. Friends asked for prayerful treatment and were healed. She began advertising her healing practice in the Christian Science Journal in 2009. \nAnn resides in the San Francisco Bay area of California. In her healing practice\, she discovers more about God and our loving relationship to God\, and simultaneously others are healed\, and lives are transformed. Ann has been a Chaplain in the Marin County Jail\, and has shared Christian Science in commercial radio interviews and with teen and interfaith groups. She loves how sharing Christian Science demands listening to God while speaking from the heart. It is interesting to consider if the time has now come for another major paradigm shift in science – a shift that would include God as the center and circumference of all existence. This paradigm shift in thought begins with the questions – how does science relate to God and is there a science that explains God? \nNikki will address these questions and show how the Science of God explains Jesus’ healings\, and teachings\, makes God knowable and understandable\, and provides humanity with a safe and reliable means for caring for ourselves and each other. \nNikki will also share some of her own experiences of the transforming\, healing power of God gained through understanding this Science of God\, or Christian Science. From a young age she had a strong desire to not just experience life\, but to understand it. She used to exasperate her dad by following up every explanation he gave her by asking “but\, Why?” While Nikki did grow up attending Christian Science Sunday School\, as a teen she decided that this would not be the way for her to gain the understanding of life that she was seeking\, and she headed off in another direction. \nSeveral years followed in which she desperately tried to find happiness and to understand the Why of life. She looked everywhere and tried everything (even jumping out of an airplane!) but nothing brought answers\, happiness or lasting peace. Rather than finding an understanding of life\, it all seemed to just get darker and make less and less sense. \nAnd then a transformational healing brought her back to Christian Science\, where she found comfort\, peace\, mercy\, happiness\, harmony\, health\, and home in the arms of divine Love. Nikki then discovered that she loved the infallible logic of the Science of Christianity\, and found in it all the answers to her Whys. Life and God finally began to make sense and became full of joy\, light\, and love. Her gratitude for this pivotal healing\, and the salvation it brought her by setting her on the path of Christian Science\, was–and still is–unbounded. Since that time all she has wanted to do is love and serve God\, and love and serve others. \nThrough her study and practice of Christian Science\, Nikki has experienced and witnessed so many healings over the years. Her earnest desire is for all to know the transformational healing power of divine Love. They expressed joy and freedom\, uncomplicated by fear. These individuals were Christian Scientists. \nGrowing up\, Dave attended Christian Science Sunday School\, where he learned about God as near and practical\, and began to see that he could rely on God to operate in his own life. He learned that Christian Science didn’t involve blind faith or ritual\, but instead encouraged individual intelligence informed by divine Mind. He began to notice unmistakable effects in his life—his attitude changed\, his experience was enriched\, and his confidence grew. He developed an increasing sense of completeness\, abundance\, and a greater sense of what might be possible. \nIn 1981\, Dave took Christian Science class instruction\, and applied the teachings in all aspects of his life — from his family\, to earning an MBA\, to health and well being. He once found himself unable to move after suddenly collapsing. After praying with a Christian Science practitioner he regained complete freedom and resumed activities like playing tennis\, volleyball\, and riding a motorcycle. \nDave became a Christian Science practitioner in 2006\, and a Christian Science teacher in 2009. He and his wife live in downtown Chicago\, where he continues to practice and teach. They also enjoy spending time at their home in Northern Michigan\, along with their dog\, Lacey.
