SUMMARY:"Never Too Late To Experience Freedom" - A Talk sponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Wilmington DE
DESCRIPTION:About this talk:\nThe little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go\, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward\, off he flew. Free! \nWhat is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news\, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes\, today! \nMy lecture traces the origins of this good news to Christ Jesus’ ministry\, and then explores how the discovery of a 19th-century woman named Mary Baker Eddy—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today. What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that uplifts our thoughts\, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint\, and heals. \nAnd it lifts all of us\, and can heal all of us. I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life\, rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter\, and freeing me from the effects of an accident\, as well as examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life. The common thread through these experiences is the way a clearer view of the reality of our God-given wholeness also releases us from burdens in our lives and causes us to soar. So she returned to school and earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching. This desire to help others and her love of Christian Science impelled her to set time aside to pray for others. While a mother of two children\, she became a full-time Christian Science practitioner\, and has pursued a lifelong career of learning about God\, sharing Truth\, and witnessing God’s love for mankind. \nPatty has lived in six states in the U.S. and twice in São Paulo\, Brazil\, where she became fluent in Portuguese. Each new culture and environment has taught her more about God\, universal Love\, and how God’s goodness is reflected by all people. These new views have opened up wonderful opportunities to interact with people from a wide variety of cultural and economic backgrounds\, faiths\, and age groups. In Brazil\, Patty helped start up an award-winning social program that taught mothers living in a favela (slum) how to make beautiful handmade quilts for resale\, the income from which put shoes on their childrens’ feet and gave these women a new sense of self-worth. \nUnderlying all of her experiences is the desire to bring healing to mankind\, to show each individual their God-given freedom\, their real heritage\, their right to happiness and health\, and their inherent ability to feel God’s love. \nToday\, Patty resides in Dallas\, Texas\, where she nurtures her healing practice as well as an active in prison ministry. While serving on the Board of Lectureship\, she has given lectures at food pantries\, museums\, libraries\, community centers\, churches\, as well as at local\, state\, and federal prisons.

SUMMARY:"Be Set Free - Freedom is yours when you know where to look for it" - A Talk sponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Jenkintown
DESCRIPTION:About this talk:\nCircumstances often present what appear to be significant obstacles to living freely\, something that everyone wants to do. Whatever it is that seems to stand between us and the full range of motion that we would like to have in our lives — it’s not so much the presenting impediment that is the problem — it’s not knowing how or where to access our God-given liberty. \nTo live a life of liberty\, we have to find the nature and substance of liberty\, which is spiritual\, purposeful\, unburdened\, and given to all. To do that you have to know where to look\, to the source of liberty — God\, good itself\, all-inclusive. \nIn this talk\, we will examine liberty from a Biblical perspective; and see how real people today find their freedom from all kinds of physical\, emotional and circumstantial restrictions that seem clearly beyond their control so that they may Be Set Free. \nClick here to learn more about the branch church sponsoring important event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About our Speaker Nicole Virgil\, CS:Member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship\nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. Her mom had been on a years-long search to find out how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for. As a result\, Nicole was raised in Christian Science\, and developed a deep desire for an intimate relationship with God. \nNicole studied Christian Science with her mom and music with her dad\, and found that each discipline complemented the other. Christian Science healed performance anxiety\, while learning music honed the skills she needed for spiritual practice — skills such as intuition\, listening\, patience and diligence. Throughout her life\, Christian Science and music have always overlapped: after studying opera at music school\, she took her one-woman opera review program (That Can’t Be Opera!) on the road\, educating audiences about opera by singing Mozart\, Puccini\, and Menotti. Christian Science guided her through this entrepreneurial endeavor\, just as it led her to start soloing in churches as a teenager (which is something she still loves to do!) — Nicole eventually married\, started a family with her husband\, and entered the public practice of Christian Science. \nToday Nicole enjoys raising children\, gardening\, soloing in church\, and witnessing the healing effect of Christian Science. \nTo get started working with Nicole\, go to https://www.nicolevirgil.com/host-a-lecture.

SUMMARY:"Why Everyone is Needed" - A Talk sponsored by First Churches of Christ\, Scientist\, Allentown and Stroudsburg
DESCRIPTION:About this talk:\nAs we learn more about who we are–as God’s thoughtful\, loved creation–our self-worth\, purpose\, physical health\, and relationships are transformed. Finding this new sense of our connection to God helps us bring healing to difficult world problems like political divisions and social inequality. Each one of us is connected to God. No one is left out. James’s lecture discusses what our purpose is\, where our worth comes from\, and shares examples of how seeing ourselves and others as God sees us gives us a spiritual perspective that heals ourselves and our world. \nClick here to learn more about the branch church sponsoring important event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About our Speaker James Shepherd\, CS:Member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship\nGod’s love is for everyone\, and a Christian Science lecture is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings. \nJames has seen the healing effects of God’s love since he was a youngster\, romping through the woods around his home with his three brothers. They had their share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. On the rare occasions they felt sick\, they relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school his family moved to a ranch where they had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way he could serve others. He left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. Thirty years later\, he still loves this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, James has enjoyed being active in many roles in his local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and has worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. He has also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When his four children were little\, he coached their sports programs. He finds other ways to help his community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nJames loves spending time with his family and doing any outdoor activity. But his greatest joy will always be to find\, and to help others find\, a more tangible sense of God’s love for everyone and how that improves every aspect of our lives.

SUMMARY:Can We Heal Like Jesus?
DESCRIPTION:Can We Heal Like Jesus?\nby Alexandre Fischer\, CS\nWHAT DID JESUS MEAN WHEN HE SAID THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL BE ABLE TO HEAL AS HE DID? (JOHN 14:12)   \nIS THIS REALLY POSSIBLE?  \n\n\n\n\nCome and find out!  Explore the healings of Jesus with Alexandre as he takes you on a spiritual journey of discovery.\nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties.  Alex Fischer has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years\, helping people on a daily basis through this scientific approach to prayer.  He travels from his home base in the southwest of France to speak to audiences around the world as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Alexandre Fischer\n\n \n\nPracticing law in France and the United States for several years informed Alexandre’s practice of Christian Science. The law was not just his job\, he says\, it was his passion. To Alexandre\, being a good lawyer meant exercising the ability to think precisely and feeling a desire to help others get out of trouble. \nDuring his years as a lawyer\, his interest in Christian Science grew. At first\, he was impressed by its remarkable healings and resolutions\, but as he dug deeper\, he found a profound spirituality. He used to believe that religion and spirituality meant accepting a system of beliefs and letting go of discernment and critical thinking. But the more he studied and practiced this spirituality\, the more he found that one’s relationship with God requires critical thinking to understand spiritual concepts. These concepts can in turn be applied to one’s life to bring healing. \nGradually\, he gave up his law practice to become a full-time Christian Science practitioner. Alexandre still works to help others “get out of trouble\,” that is\, to overcome a sense of limitation and to find freedom. \nAlexandre discovered that Christian Science is not just about feeling better or fixing problems. It’s about being willing to challenge one’s world view as entirely molecule-based and soulless\, to be open to see the world as spiritually-based\, and experience how this change in perspective brings inner peace and healing. Christian Science helps us understand our relationship with God\, infinite good\, more clearly. Its teachings help us see Christ Jesus’ message in a non-dogmatic way\, bringing healing\, harmony and freedom to our life. \nThrough healing and lecturing\, Alexandre works to enable others to find this same freedom.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk - “Finding where God is seen and felt”
DESCRIPTION:Finding where God is seen and felt – what’s church got to do with it?\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Emma Farkas– on how the ideas of the Bible are available for anyone to understand and experience through Christian Science\n\n\n\n\n“A new kind of thinking is needed to recognize that God’s goodness and love are actually here and tangible to all humanity everywhere. The idea of ‘church’ can shift from being a physical building\, a set time on a particular day\, or an assembly of perfect humans (does that even exist??)\, to that of being what God builds in our lives every moment through us responding to Christ Jesus’ message of God’s all-powerful love.” ~ Ms. Farkas \nThe talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by the First Church of Christ\, Scientist in Berwyn.\n\nSharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Ms. Farkas will\nexplain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for\nthemselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder\nof the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \n\nWhat do God and Church mean to you?\nFeeling pure goodness and love every day!\nMs. Farkas will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she\nfelt was original Christian healing. Mrs. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that\nbelieves on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my\nFather” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity\nand continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties. \n\n\n\nAbout Emma Farkas\n\n \n\nThe most important influences in Emma’s life were her mother\, who taught her to pray when confronted with difficulties\, and her Christian Science Sunday School. In her teens\, when a teacher asked her to speak to a social studies class about her religion\, she found the joy that comes from sharing what she understood and had experienced of Mary Baker Eddy’s discovery. She was asked back each year and was always moved by the way students who were skeptical about the subject became interested after hearing her accounts of spiritual healing–her healings of a severed thumb\, tonsilitis\, swimmer’s ear\, bullying\, and other difficulties. \nHowever\, during college and graduate school she drifted away from church. Her degrees were in Fine Arts and after school she worked for galleries and museums in New York City. Her interest in finding spiritual answers to life’s challenges was rekindled\, and she explored a variety of spiritual disciplines in search of answers. This hands-on study of comparative religion helped her understand the universality of the search for spiritual truth but left her with unanswered questions. \nShe and her husband moved to Taos\, New Mexico\, where she enjoyed a career in music performance and started a family. After some years of poor health\, a sudden spiritual insight led her back to Christian Science and an instantaneous healing of multiple chronic illnesses. This inspired a deeper study of Eddy’s writings which then led to returning to church\, taking Christian Science class instruction (a two-week intensive course of study) and shortly after\, becoming a full-time Christian Science practitioner.  She says there is nothing more satisfying than seeing divine Truth and Love transform lives and bring healing. She feels deeply blessed to practice and teach Christian Science\, contribute to the Christian Science periodicals\, serve her branch church\, and serve as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. \n\n

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk - Finding Trust In A Changing World
DESCRIPTION:Finding Trust In A Changing World\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Lesley Pitts\n— on learning to trust what we can truly rely on!\n\n\n\n\nWhat can we confidently depend on? Recognizing a loving\, divine presence can bring the reliable stability and support needed for progress.\nJoin us outside on the beautiful lawn of our Church property. We will have a large tent set up outdoors with chairs and a portable sound system. Of course\, in the event of inclement weather\, we will swiftly move the event indoors into our auditorium.\n\nJoin us for this free Christian Science Talk to consider with Lesley Pitts\, a Christian Science healer\, the idea of finding a spiritual basis of trust which enables us to turn to a divine presence whenever we need it. The love\, goodness\, and intelligence of God never change and are always available. The more we discover God’s love and care for us\, the more we can confidently turn to this divine presence and find our lives transformed and healed – and our families\, communities\, and the whole world benefit\, too. Anyone can learn how to lean into God’s trustworthiness. \n\n\n\n\nAbout Lesley Pitts\n\nIt was during high school that the direction of Lesley’s life changed. Although she was raised as a Christian Scientist\, it wasn’t until she experienced the joy of helping someone during a youth club outing that Lesley finally understood what it took to love unselfishly. This set her on a new path. She became aware that nursing qualities of willing service\, patience\, gentleness\, and compassion were expressed all around her as she grew up and that she wanted to live them\, too. They’ve woven themselves into every activity she has undertaken since then. \nFor example\, Lesley served as a Christian Science nurse for more than 30 years\, mostly in the United Kingdom. This work brought her to Boston in the United States to work in the Christian Science Nursing Activities department. Later\, she was part of the team that established The Mary Baker Eddy Library. Her nursing qualities were put to good use in organizing and caring for its collections — shared with the public for the first time. She served as Executive Manager and President of the Library for six years. \nWorking at the Library and becoming more familiar with Eddy’s remarkable accomplishments as the founder of a religious movement increased Lesley’s desire to better practice Christian Science in her own life and help others through her healing practice and lecturing. \nLesley believes that her unusual career path illustrates the idea that following God’s lead is a more trustworthy foundation for living than relying on society’s expectations or other people’s opinions. \n

SUMMARY:Free Sunday Talk: Moving Past Fear - To Healing
DESCRIPTION:Moving Past Fear – To Healing\nA FREE Inspirational Talk on Sunday\, April 7th at Cedar Crest College in Allentown\nby Lisa Troseth\nCan fear be overcome — even healed — in our lives?\nJoin us on Sunday\, April 7th at Cedar Crest College in Allentown for this free Christian Science Talk with Lisa Troseth\, a Christian Science teacher and healer. Lisa will share how she discovered our strong connection to something bigger than ourselves.  We invite you to join us and consider together how learning to lean on this greater\, higher good we can feel moved to love beyond ourselves—and this frees us from fear\, and changes our lives. \nAbout Lisa Troseth\n\n“What should I do with my life?” Lisa often wondered during her early twenties. She wasn’t sure where she was headed\, but she was praying to be of service to humanity. That’s when it occurred to her: If we’re motivated by love in whatever we’re doing\, even if our efforts seem small on the surface\, then we’ll be living in accord with a power that genuinely makes a difference—the power of God\, which the Bible says is Love itself. \nAt the time\, she had begun to really open her heart to God and was learning from the study of Christian Science that the nature of our divine Creator is infinitely loving and we’re designed to express God’s love in beautiful and unique ways. It’s like each of us\, including our daily endeavors\, are made to be an artistic tapestry of divine Love. \nThis idea still inspires her each day to see and treat everyone she meets with love\, to acknowledge their God-derived value\, beauty\, and uniqueness. Christian Science has shown Lisa how letting a truer sense of God’s all-defining love govern how we interact and genuinely care for each other actually leads the way to useful ideas and purposeful action\, and improves society as a whole. Since her twenties\, Lisa has seen how these views have led her and others in a variety of fruitful endeavors that bring genuine healing where it’s needed most. \nAlong the way\, Lisa has worked with educational non-profits\, contributed to community art events\, participated in interfaith programs\, and served as a Christian Science nurse. She is now in the full-time healing ministry as a Christian Science practitioner\, teacher\, and lecturer.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk - A Spiritual Revolution: The Quest To Experience God
DESCRIPTION:A Spiritual Revolution: The Quest To Experience God\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n— on finding spiritual perspective for living a better life\n\n\nIn this talk\, Giulia will share how she has experienced a “spiritual revolution” in her own life by reading the book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by Mary Baker Eddy\, along with the Bible. \nThe ideas in Science and Health gave her an entirely new perspective on God and life that resulted in deeper meaning and even physical healings\, both for herself and others. \nMs. Nesi is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.  In this role\, she has addressed medical conferences\, university classrooms\, as well as general audiences around the world. \n\n\nJoin us for a wonderful hour with international speaker\, Giulia Nesi Tetreau.  Discover a spiritual practice to improve your life and perspective. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n\nAs a child\, I learned that God is all love. But at the same time\, He (never She) could be distant\, unknowable\, and judgmental. He was loving\, but could punish us harshly. He sent sunshine and babies\, but also storms\, wars\, and disease. \nLonging for meaningful connection with the divine\, this two-sided God was no comfort to me as I grew older. I wanted to feel unconditional love\, that God would be a reliable help no matter what I was dealing with or going through. And I didn’t just want to know about God. I wanted to experience God. \nMy yearning was actually part of what I understand to be a larger spiritual revolution. Worldwide\, across cultures\, people are seeking a truer sense of Deity. Spirit\, God (or whatever we call our Source) is impelling us all toward a life that’s bigger and deeper than what we perceive with the five senses. \nThis impulsion led me to Christian Science\, which\, based on the life and teachings of Christ Jesus\, explains that God is pure Love\, and the source of all good feminine as well as masculine qualities. It also teaches that we all are God’s beloved children – always\, in all conditions – and that what’s true and enduring is the good in our nature. These are and continue to be revolutionary concepts. So revolutionary that\, as they change our viewpoints about God and ourselves\, we can experience healing from disease and suffering as Jesus showed us.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Be Set Free
DESCRIPTION:Be Set Free!\nA FREE Inspirational Talkby Nicole Virgil— on gaining a sense of spiritual freedom in your life\nCircumstances often present what appear to be significant obstacles to living freely\, something that everyone wants to do.  Whatever it is that seems to stand between us and the full range of motion that we would like to have in our lives – it’s not so much the presenting impediment that is the problem – it’s not knowing how or where to access our God-given liberty. \nJoin us for a wonderful hour with International Speaker\, Nicole Virgil.  She will take us through a way of transformation of thought — and how that can change our lives. \nIn this talk\, Nicole will examine liberty from a Biblical perspective; and help the audience see how real people today find their freedom from all kinds of physical\, emotional and circumstantial restrictions that seem clearly beyond their control so that they may Be Set Free. \nMs. Virgil says\, \n\nTo live a life of liberty\, we have to find the nature and substance of liberty\, which is spiritual\, purposeful\, unburdened\, and given to all. To do that you have to know where to look\, to the source of liberty – God\, good itself\, all-inclusive.\n\n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Nicole Virgil\nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. Her mom had been on a years-long search to find out how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for.\nAs a result\, Nicole was raised in Christian Science\, and developed a deep desire for an intimate relationship with God.\nNicole studied Christian Science with her mom and music with her dad\, and found that each discipline complemented the other:   Christian Science healed performance anxiety\, while learning music honed the skills she needed for spiritual practice — skills such as intuition\, listening\, patience and diligence. \nThroughout her life\, Christian Science and music have always overlapped: after studying opera at music school\, she took her one-woman opera review program (That Can’t Be Opera!) on the road\, educating audiences about opera by singing Mozart\, Puccini\, and Menotti. Christian Science guided her through this entrepreneurial endeavor\, just as it led her to start soloing in churches as a teenager (which is something she still loves to do!) \nNicole eventually married\, started a family with her husband\, and entered the public practice of Christian Science.Today Nicole enjoys raising children\, gardening\, soloing in church\, and witnessing the healing effect of Christian Science.
